Are Meta Tags still important in SEO?
Spammers in the nineties meant that search engines had to rethink the way they indexed sites. However meta tags are still important. They provide title tags are particularly important as is the description as this is what shows in Google under your listing. Keywords are not so valuable in tags although are still used by some of the smaller search engines, and that can still get you backlinks.
Do you use spam tactics in your processes?
Absolutely not.. Short-term gains attained through unethical methods will generally be offset by the loss that will be felt when the site gets penalized and/or blacklisted. We want you to be a customer of PWC for many years and recommend us to everyone you know. Your investment with us is too valuable for both you and us to jeopardise by using short term quick fix schemes. We’ll leave those tactics to the fly by night SEO companies with their ridiculous “get #1 in 12 hours” promises.
I have a website made in Flash, will this hurt my rankings?
No-one is really sure of the answer to this. Until we hear scientific proof otherwise we say that it will. The reason for this is not technical at all, Google sees flash as images and its not advanced enough to look at pictures yet! A general rule is that if you can’t highlight it then search engines can’t see it.
Music, moving images and flashing lights do not make a good
website.
How long does the average project take?
That really depends on the project and package taken. It normally takes 10-14 days for the onsite work to be completed and then the off site work can begin. Our work is ongoing for the duration of the contract. You’ll see an improvement soon after we complete the optimisation then a steady rise over the months. We provide regular reports for you to track
progress and we keep you informed ever step of the way.
I have heard of some websites being blacklisted. What is this?
A site can be blacklisted if unethical search engine optimisation tactics have been used or if the search engine algorithm determines that it believes they have been. It can be very difficult to recover from a blacklisting, often it is easier to simply use another domain with a new site and move forward from there after cleaning out whatever spam tactic got you banned.
That can mean months of wasted work.
Do you submit my site to the search engines as part of your service?
Manual search engine and directory submission are included with all of our packages. Some clients are often confused as to why we would submit to some of the smaller engines that no-one visits. However this all helps with the backlinks part of the project.
However when we say submit your site to Google, we are
always amazed to see some SEO companies talk of Googles
submit page!
Will I have to create more content to attain high search engine positioning?
On larger more competitive keywords it may be beneficial to add a couple of pages to boost rankings. We would discuss this with you if needed and they would fit with the feel of your site. They would of course have to be approved by you, its your website after al. However in most cases no additions are needed
My competitors are using spam tactics, why is it working for them?
Not all spam is easily detected by the major search engines. Like hackers, every time a method gets detected a new method is created to bypass this. That said, it is usually a matter of time before the algorithm will be changed to detect new spam tactics and further, sites using spam can be reported and penalized individually. If you choose to use spam tactics to attain rankings there is a high likelihood that your site will eventually be penalized. Spam tactics can sometimes get fast results but these are not sustainable, Companies need good solid
foundations that will stand the test of time and see off the spammers in the long term.
